This is About Us

I'm not running to use D6 as a stepping stone to a higher office.

I'm running because we need real and lasting change here in the southeast, and I am committing to make the position of District 6 City Councilor my full-time job in order to best serve the people as their representative. Together, we can address the issues plaguing our communities and create a unified, prosperous, and desirable place to live, work, and play. I believe that we need equity throughout our district, and that a rising tide lifts all boats

I'm not here to further my own agenda. As a city, I think we've all had enough of that.

This isn't about me; it's all about WE.

I've been vocal about us for a while now.

I've been involved with the Elder Homestead Neighborhood Association as a Board Member for several years as the Homelessness Solutions Chair and the Neighborhood Beautification Coordinator.

In my capacity as HSC, I've sat in on every meeting regarding the Gateway/ Gibson Health Hub from the very beginning... even before the location was announced. I've been closely involved with the permitting processes, the LUHO and LUPZ hearings; given testimony on the City's failures on the project; helped draft a comprehensive, legally-binding Good Neighbor Agreement.

Currently, I am sitting in on the Gateway "Transformative Neighborhood" meetings as an active member of the coalition of neighborhoods that refused to sign the City's watered-down GNA, dedicating countless hours of our time toward ensuring that Family & Community Services and the City of Albuquerque upholds each and every promise made not only to the surrounding neighborhoods, but to the vulnerable populations of unhoused, addicted, and mentally infirm that the City has sworn to assist and elevate out of neglect.

I will not sit idly by and allow the Gateway to devolve into a body warehouse, nor will I watch as the fragile, marginalized communities surrounding their campus suffer further adverse impacts such as what was seen in Wells Park/ Coronado and the current mess that is Trumbull Village around the Tiny Homes Village.

I've been a staunch supporter of encampment cleanup in our alleys and parks to create a safe space for our underprivileged families.

In my capacity as an EHNA Board Member, I've organized neighborhood cleanups on both our streets and in our alleyways, and connected our residents with services such as Senior Affairs to assist in home repairs, weed removal, and social services.

I have supported the fledgling ACS in their work to connect our unhoused with the services they need to get to safety. I've met with our Southeast Command unit of APD to discuss the issues plaguing our eastern district, and met with our neighborhood association members to the west to compare which issues overlap the San Mateo "Redline" in order to better understand the needs of our entire district when speaking publicly to City Council and beyond.

Concurrently, I've had the honor to meet with grassroots leaders as well as up-and-coming economic entrepreneurs who share the same vision that will lead us to a brighter, bolder future.

Let's work together to transform District 6!

About My Name

Back in high school, I spent most of my days in the art room classes. It was there I found a sketch book filled with cryptic drawings, funny cartoons, and quotes from novels. One day, I left a message in a margin for the book's owner.

From that small note came one of the most influential people I've ever had the honor and privilege of knowing - Chris White. He taught me so much about art and about life. When he left to travel the world with the Air Force, we stayed in touch via lengthy letters, illustrations, and postcards.

While overseas, he shared a dream in which I appeared as a raven on his shoulder, and something about it resonated with both of us. From then on, that was what he and my small, close-knit group of friends called me. When Chris died by suicide in the mid-1990s, I took the name in his honor and never looked back. When I fell in love with Albuquerque and moved here, I took on "Del Rio" as a nod to our beautiful, life-giving river. And so it's been; a decades-long tribute to a dear friend and mentor, and an honorific to my adopted home.
